About Us
Our Story
The TIG Brush™ Stainless Steel Weld Cleaning System utilises a unique combination of electricity, heat and chemistry to deliver superior results in weld cleaning and metal surface finishing. Its proprietary, conductive brush applies a cleaning fluid to the work surface, producing an electro-chemical cleaning action with astoundingly fast and effective results. Driving the TIG Brush™ is Ensitech’s Dynamic Power Transfer®. This patented technology maximises the efficiency of energy transfer to the work surface and ensures optimum performance in changing operating conditions. At the same time, Ensitech’s low-toxicity fluids are custom-designed to maximise user safety and not damage the environment. This powerful combination is the result of many years of product development, based on feedback from the industry. Ensitech’s research and development division invests continuously in innovation, as well as independent testing and validation of the company’s products.
Founder'S Story
Clive White, one of Ensitech’s founders, was approached to help find a solution for a friend who had received a large contract from McDonald’s. The contract was to manufacture a drive-through ‘charity panel’, the panel that sits under the payment window advertising McDonald House. The panel needed to incorporate a coin chute, welded onto a stainless steel plate, for customers to drop spare coins into as a donation. McDonald’s wanted the panel to have a silver ‘brushed finish’.
Unfortunately, when stainless steel is welded, the heat generated from the welding causes the surface of the metal to turn black. The black discolouration is called ‘heat tint’, and is extremely difficult to remove. So when the coin chute was welded to the panel, the heat from the welding caused the heat tint to form. The friend tried some common methods to remove the unsightly discolouration, but none proved effective or safe in removing the heat tint. Not only were these traditional methods dangerous to use, they also caused damaged to the surface of the plate, and destroyed the brushed finish the customer required.
Clive started working spare nights and weekends utilising his electronic engineering skills to try and discover how the heat tint could be removed. Working with his friend and an aeronautical engineer, the team discovered a method that provided the perfect solution. The resulting product removed the heat tint quickly and safely without damaging the stainless steel surface finish. They manufactured ten TIG Brush™ machines and sold them to local manufacturers for trial. (The TIG part of the name comes from Tungsten Inert Gas, the type of weld originally cleaned). The new TIG Brush™ machine utilised a safe fluid in conjunction with an electric current and a conductive brush. Ensitech’s new method of removing heat tint was so successful the TIG Brush™ brand became synonymous with stainless steel weld cleaning, and the company is now recognised as a global leader in the area of metal surface finishing.
